The Project

This project involved a systematic UI/UX audit of a website design for Toronto Cupcake's Website. It intends to comprehensively assess its visual design, usability, content quality, functionality, accessibility, and responsiveness. A crucial component alongside this single platform was the need to apply comparative competitive analysis, specifically against three competitors. This also included gathering thematic inspiration through a Moodboard creation and creating a foundational structure for the homepage via crafting low-fidelity wireframes.

The Purpose

The primary purpose of this project was to identify areas of strength and weakness within the Toronto Cupcake Website's current user experience, using both internal assessment and external competitive benchmarking. By systematically auditing the existing site and meticulously comparing it to industry leaders like Sprinkles Cupcakes, the goal was to uncover key insights that would inform strategic design improvements. Furthermore, creating a moodboard and sketching wireframes served to translate these analytical findings into actionable design directions, laying the groundwork for a more effective and appealing user interface.

The Parameters

The project's parameters were clearly defined across several distinct tasks. These included a comprehensive UI/UX audit of the Toronto Cupcake Website, requiring assessment across six specific dimensions: visual design, usability, content quality, functionality, accessibility, and responsiveness. Concurrently, a competitive analysis was mandated, involving the identification of three competitors and a detailed UI/UX audit of one specific competitor (Sprinkles Cupcake), capturing 15-20 key points. Additionally, the project required the creation of a Moodboard to establish visual themes and inspiration, culminating in the sketching or development of a low-fidelity wireframe for the homepage, emphasizing structural development and feature placement.

The Production

The production process for this project was methodical and multi-faceted, beginning with the systematic execution of the UI/UX audit of the Toronto Cupcake Website to gather initial data. This was complemented by the structured competitive analysis, where competitors were identified and their platforms, particularly Sprinkles Cupcake's, underwent a detailed UI/UX evaluation to pinpoint comparative strengths and weaknesses. Insights from both audits then fed into the creative phase, where a Moodboard was curated to explore visual design directions. Finally, these collective findings were synthesized into tangible design artifacts through the sketching or creation of low-fidelity wireframes for the homepage, focusing squarely on establishing foundational structure and strategic feature placement.
